Location: Multi site location, North Dublin
Reports to: Lead Vet
Schedule: 1 in 4 weekends, with either 4 days of 10-hour shifts or 5 days of 8-hour shifts.
Salary: €32,375 - €35,000 (Depending on Experience) + Mileage when travelling between our South Dublin practices
About the Role
We are looking for a confident, experienced and adaptable Animal Care Assistant to join our team, providing support across our North Dublin practices. This is a fast-paced, multi-site role suited to someone who can hit the ground running, quickly adapt to different practices and teams, and provide excellent standards of animal care wherever support is needed.
Assist the Veterinary Surgeon and Veterinary Nurse with day-to-day clinical duties
Caring for patients and inpatients and monitoring vital signs
Assisting with basic laboratory work, sample preparation and diagnostic procedures, including X-rays
Carry out general cleaning duties throughout the clinic, including equipment and animal areas, in line with Village Vets hygiene standards
Assist with front-of-house duties and follow procedures to ensure an efficient, friendly reception experience
Promote Pet Health Plans and Pet Insurance to support clients in accessing the highest standard of veterinary care
Carry out ad hoc clinical and administrative duties as required by the Head Nurse or Area Manager
Complete all tasks and procedures efficiently, accurately, and to a high standard
Contribute to and maintain an outstanding client and patient experience across the team
About you
You will have completed a relevant animal care qualification
You are highly motivated, hard-working, and a strong team player
You have excellent customer care skills and a genuine commitment to delivering the highest standards of animal welfare and patient care
Has experience in an animal care or veterinary environment
Is confident working in a busy practice and can use their initiative
Adapts quickly to different teams and locations
Is organised, reliable and flexible
Takes pride in providing excellent animal care
Ideally, you will have at least two years’ experience working in small animal practice
Keen to develop your clinical skills and knowledge
You will need your own car and a full driving licence to carry out this role
